“Dancing in the Street” without music is still and may always be one of my favorite things ever. 🎵
I’m smack dab in the middle of feeling I should stay informed about what’s going on in my country and also wanting to completely quit the internet at least until January 20.
I watched both Elizabethtown and Zodiac for an episode of my More Movies Please! podcast. One continues to be a brilliant film about a serial killer and the other continues to be too long.
I just watched the “A Dark Quiet Death” episode of Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet on Apple TV+. I cannot recall the last time I was so completely awestruck, moved, and floored by an episode of television. It makes subscribing to the service totally worth it. 📺
On the one hand, I’m excited to see what the new HBO Max service will be offering and how it’ll evolve. On the other hand, it’s an annoyance that the HBO Apple TV channel wasn’t just turned into HBO Max. Now I have two separate places available to watch the same HBO content?
I’d like to see a lot more movie recommendations on these lists about the inhumanity of war and less about the glorification of it as some sort of noble endeavor. I guess films like Paths of Glory and Born On the Fourth of July do help shift the balance in a better direction.
I have magic lounge pants: the drawstring always ties itself into an unsolvable knot exactly when I most need to go to the bathroom.
I watched Emma. with my fiancée today. I’d never read the book or seen any adaption of it, so I was delighted with how fun it was. It was also one of the prettiest looking films I’ve seen in a long time. Totally recommended. 🎥
I just watched the original The Italian Job. What a wonderful, ridiculous heist film that one was. And what an ending! Clearly, Michael Caine was, hell, still is, the most debonair Englishman ever. 🎥🍿
Happy belated birthday to me! If you’ve got an iPad Pro, I couldn’t recommend this keyboard enough. It’s everything I was hoping for and more. I think this iPad is now my favorite computer ever (and I had some pre-butterfly keyboard MacBook Pros).
Ah, the sweet, familial (and familiar) agony of setting up a new phone for a parent…
The Magic Keyboard that was supposed to show up today is delayed until…?, with the item now listed as sold out on Best Buy. I get there’s weirdness and shipping issues these days, but if you consistently can’t deliver items when you say you will, then you’re terrible at business.
I’ll probably never listen to The Joe Rogan Experience, but it’s still a shame to see it become a Spotify exclusive. I feel a show is only a podcast when its audio files are freely accessible to all players through an RSS feed. The Joe Rogan Experience is not a podcast anymore.
I guess one of the realities of getting another year older is being able to feel my own back slowly pinch a nerve and not be able to do anything to stop it. It’s like a real time forecast of my discomfort for the next few days.
I wish my job could be developing new companies right up to the point before they start making money because it seems I’m pretty good at that. Except I’m not sure how to make money from doing that.
All I want for Christmas in May is Micropub support in Ulysses (@ulyssesapp) so I can post longer form content to my Micro.blog site from my preferred writing app. Maybe in the Ulysses 20 release, please?
It’s saddens me to know that any other president would have seen this pandemic as an energizing opportunity to help lead my country through it all. Instead, we’re stuck with one that’s clearly bored and would rather be holding rallies. At best, he’s completely apathetic.
I’ve been noticing that we’re entering the point where some harmful dolts are simply refusing to wear masks while out in public in Southern California now. Sigh…
I watched Tampopo and thoroughly enjoyed it. Talk about a fun movie. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to see it. It’s a real must for anyone who loves movies and ramen! 🎥🍿🍜
Happy birthday to both myself and, as is my annual tradition, Robert Pattinson. We’re both turning 34 today. He continues to be the best friend I have that doesn’t know I exist. Hats off to us! 🎂🎉
