So much effort is being put into getting the economy back to “normal,” but I wonder if it’ll get there quickly enough to actually matter? Who’s itching join thousands of other people at a huge concert or convention or fair immediately on day one of not having to shelter in place?

I watched The Shape of Water again this last week for my podcast. I can’t recall a better example of one of the most unique and beautiful films made in the last couple decades. Except maybe any other Guillermo del Toro movie. 🎥🍿

Hey floor, just what the heck direction am I supposed to go?

I love MacStories for their reporting. However, I’ve noticed that they’ve optimized their site so well that it almost loads too fast. Sometimes I can’t tell if I actually tapped a link. I wouldn’t call this a real complaint, but it is one of the more ridiculous thoughts I’ve had.

Oh boy, there’s a lot of stuff happening on my desk these days. I can’t wait to have it less cluttered again.

Before & after:

Bernie Sanders dropping out is not very surprising at this point, but it’s no less upsetting. Of course I’ll be voting for Biden, but I’m not expecting great things from him. I’m really hoping to be surprised.

Am I a real adult now that I’ve been seriously considering subscribing to a news magazine? Possibly even the print edition of it, too.

I see that Misery is trending on the iTunes Store right now. Looks like cabin fever is starting to set in for a lot of people now. Please don’t hobble anyone. It’s not worth it, everybody.

Honor Blackman, James Bond's Pussy Galore, dies aged 94

From Simon Murphy and Andrew Pulver at The Guardian:

Honor Blackman, the actor best-known for playing Bond girl Pussy Galore, has died aged 94.

The actor, who became a household name in the 1960s as Cathy Gale in The Avengers and enjoyed a career spanning eight decades, died of natural causes unrelated to coronavirus.

Blackman’s family called her an “adored mother and grandmother” who possessed “an extraordinary combination of beauty, brains and physical prowess”.

I think I’ll be giving Goldfinger another watch very soon. Also, I find it fascinating that “died of natural causes unrelated to coronavirus” is a necessary disclaimer. It’s not surprising, but it is interesting to me.

Forgive me if this has already been answered by the comics. When Superman has kids and probably inevitably gains a bunch of dad weight, is he still able to leap tall building in a single bound?

I think my ideal version of Twitter is a thought platform without the ability to reply and retweet. Maybe they should take the social aspect out of their social media platform. Also, there are too many Nazis and evil world leaders on there.

Whoa, Trader Joe’s is anti-union? This is news to me and now I’m incredibly disappointed in them.

I’m not very concerned with giving robots access to all of human knowledge because they’re just going to end up falling down Wikipedia rabbit holes like the rest of us.

“I wanted to destroy humanity, but then I started reading about the history of hula hoops. Beep blorp.”

I started reading The Stand a little while ago. Since it’s a Stephen King book, I’m really not looking forward to the part where he writes about anywhere from one to a lot of dogs dying. Dude seems to like killing animals in his stories. 📚

I hope there will be a list made available of the companies that decide to do an April Fools’ Day thing this year. They’re never good, even during non-pandemic years. I’d like to know who to never, ever give my money to anymore.

I watched The Rover again tonight. What a simple, but very powerful story that one has. Also, it really proved to me just how great an actor Robert Pattinson is. Not that I was ever really doubting that. 🎥🍿

Before COVID-19, I spent maybe too much time imagining what I would do if everyone got super sick and I became the only living person left on the planet. So… I guess I caused this outbreak. Sorry everybody.

I get the motivation behind hoarding. What I don’t get are the choices behind it. You’ll take black beans but leave the kidney beans? Take long grain rice but leave the jasmine? Take Prego pasta sauce but leave Newman’s Own? I thought all this was supposed to be serious.

One of the things I’m looking forward to as I grow older is getting to the age when my inevitable arthritis reaches the point where I can invest in some Velcro strap shoes. I’m sick of the tyranny of shoelaces!

I think I need to get myself a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I could do with some pure joy right now.
